01. THE SCARF
If you're the kind of guy that lives in jeans and solid colored shirts, then learn to brighten up your outfits with a simple scarf. My top tip would be to check out Dries van Noten. He does a range of eclectic scarves from skinny wool ones with tassels and intricate copper beading to forest green, black and gray in square prints. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any of these scarves online so if you don't have a Dries boutique near you, then guess you'll have to trawl through eBay.
This season, Neil Barrett also does an amazing merino wool skinny scarf in black (see above right). I've also fallen in love with Cloak's signature F/W scarf in grey and black square print - masculine with a soft edge (see above left). Get Neil Barrett's Merino Fine Scarf for € 176.00 at luisaviaroma.
02. THE BAG
My favorite bag this season is Louis Vuitton's Innsbruck Carryall. Sure, at first glance, it may look a little camp. But a closer look reveals it has a sophisticated shape that can double as a travel bag for work and for play. It has no problems matching suits and casual jeans. Most importantly, it's durable and will last you longer than this season.
03. THE KNIT
The V in V-neck should stand for versatile because V-neck jumpers/sweaters are exactly that. Whether you wear on its own or layered on top of Oxford shirts and jeans, it never fails to make a sexy statement. For the perfect V-neck, look to Alessandro Dell'Acqua who makes gorgeous cashmere ones every season.
04. THE COAT
Belted coats dominated the runways and was seen everywhere from Valentino to Burberry. My top pick has to be the pin stripe trench coat by Veronique Branquinho. It's sleek, slimming, and super stylish. Double breasted coats are the best bet when buying coats. It's a classic design that remains popular season to season. Available from Browns at approx. $1,600.
05. THE SHOES
With the array of boots available these days it's easy to go over the top with them. I can tell you now though that cowboy boots on men never look good. This Bridle strap boot by menswear legent John Varvatos is easy to wear with jeans or with dressier trousers. Available from Neiman Marcus for $550.
