Soap Opera Couture... Are you serious?

Soap operas have never really hurt anyone. Sure, they recycle their plot-lines week after week and they bring characters back from the dead in order to boost ratings... Someone's always cheating on someone else and women are always slapping one another in angst, but what's the crime in that? It's formula and you can't go wrong with formulas, right?

Well Ladies, there is a tragic and unforgivable crime being committed on NBC and it is a doozy. I don't know if anyone here is a fan of NBC's "Passions," but a friend of mine sent me this link and I just about lost my latte’... literally!

From what I can gather, some fictional character on Passions named Fancy Crane is supposedly a “Fashion Designer” (on the show) and she has some line called, “Crane Couture.” These atrocities have made their way out of the show and onto a website near you. According to their verbiage, these hideous garments are being purchased by fans and even close to selling out; “Fancy’s Crane Couture spring line was a success! Nearly all the items sold out completely!”

The idea that this "fashion" line exists is appalling to me, but the fact that they are selling out is just plain shocking.

What’s the moral of the story here?

Soap operas should stick to creating drama, not putting out nightmarish garments and slapping the word “Couture” on them.
