Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2007 New York Fashion Week, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

I usually love Catherine Malandrino. I love her aesthetic; chic, elegant yet youthful. This however, I did not get. I didn't really understand her point of view or what she was trying to say. She most definitely experimented with volume but didn't coming up with anything new. Bubble dresses and puffy sleeves were a major feature of the collection, but almost seem outdated as we are inundated with cocoon shapes this fall/winter. There was no distinct palette to tie anything together. Instead, she used a mish-mash of colors from yellow, cobalt blue, black, red, white, etc. Overall, it was disappointing and I wish I saw something new. Maybe not even new, just pretty.
