Five Great Flats, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Let's not forget about practicality ladies. Platform pumps and sky high boots are sexy and trendy but when you're in a rush and have to run to get somewhere, nothing does the job better than a pair of fabulous flats.

Keep up with the trends with this plaid woven straw Thatch Ballet Flats by Stuart Weitzman. The sweet bow and trim keeps it feminine and elegant. Available from Saks Fifth Avenue for a bargainous $85.90.

When I think Juicy, I think cheesy and yes this pair doesn't let me down there but I have to admit - it's damn cute. Grosgrain ribbon and the signature Juicy charm trims the edge of this snake-printed flat. If you look carefully, there are small studs on the sole of the heel so it's especially great for when its slightly icy outside. Available from Nordstrom at $190.

Loving the metallic trend but can't decide between gold, silver and copper? Wear them all at once with these Veronica flats by Charles Albert. Available from delia*s at
$25
.

I love the patent tube bow on this pair. I first came across this design at the store itself a few weeks ago before the entire F/W collection was available on the floor. The pair I saw were a pair of gorgeous red platform chuny heeled pumps. I fell in love with them at first sight but this also fits the bill. If you're a fan of the tailored look, then don't hesitate to invest in these for the winter. Available from Bluefly for $416.

Looks a bit weird at first glance and I hated them at first. But after having seen them on a friend's feet, they grew on me. These Albany pointed toe ballerina slippers by Pedro Garcia are black satin with ruffles on the toe and a zig-zag trim around the foot. Available from net-a-porter for £110.64.
