What a change from the heavy draping and dark colours we look forward to now for Fall/Winter 06. Some see bland in this collection but all I see is a welcome palette of feminine colours of a fading sunset. The loose shapes give an effect, not so much of the voluminous cocoons we have become accustomed to, but a fresh and floaty vibe perfect for the summer. The ribbons tied loosely around the mid-driff are complete opposite to the tight restrictive thick patent leather belts that cinch the waists of winter.
A hint of eyelet and ethnic patterns remain scattered very subtly across the collection but I love all the dresses nonetheless. I love the romantic textures and details; soft ruffles and lace. The only thing I don't understand is the footwear. Many of the girls sport beige T-bar plimsols with gold piping, which although I'm sure is very comfortable, do absolutely nothing aesthetically. Neither do the lace up ankle boots. Ankle boots to me do not a pretty summer make. They should stay firmly behind this winter season.
In all, a solid collection and I look forward to seeing what the rest of fashion week brings us.
