Payless Shoes=Designer?

Payless Shoe Source is now on it's way to riding the designer bandwagon with their new line of Abaete shoes from Laura Poretzky. (source) Poretzky, a relatively new designer, started out creating swimwear, and her footwear will be available in Payless stores this September.

This high-end label will range from $25 to $45 and include ballet flats, pumps and knee high boots. Critics have called her designs a mix between flapper-era Parisian with a Japanese influence.

Is this just the beginning of a makeover for the Payless chain? Not really...remember Airwalks? My favorite brand of alterna-grunge skateboard shoe has been available at Payless for years now. It's only a matter of time before Candies jumps on board the mainstream ship!
